Brad news for wasteful Canaries who pay the price so late

- Championship

NORWICH boss Daniel Farke slammed referee Dean Whitestone after his side conceded a 95thminute equaliser.

Runaway Championship leaders City were held to a disappointing draw at Deepdale after Emiliano Buendia’s early opener was cancelled out at the death.

But Brad Potts’ dramatic leveller came after the allotted four minutes of added time – and Farke wants his young side to learn their lesson and kill games off. “Even out of nothing you can still concede,” he said. “We had so many situations to finish the game off and so many chances.

“Four minutes went up on the board. Tim Krul cleared the ball and still there was no whistle.

“We did not put enough pressure on the ball. The shot has taken two deflections and gone in. It is cruel, so disappointing.

“You cannot expect the final whistle.

You have to play it out.

My young lads will learn from this. I spoke to the ref afterwards and he felt a bit sorry for us.” Preston’s temporary boss Frankie Mcavoy hailed the effort of his side after his first game in charge.

“I thought the work-rate, the effort, the hunger and the desire, right up until the end was excellent and that’s all you can ask for as a coach,” he said.

“We threw caution to the wind at the end. There’s no

point sitting just waiting for the game to finish. There are things we need to tidy up and work on, but we are happy with the point.

“I am delighted for Brad and for the group in general.”

Todd Cantwell fired wide from distance before Jordan Storey nodded over from a North End corner.

Daniel Iversen came off his line sharply to deny Bali Mumba.

Krul saved from Emil Riis Jakobsen in a one-on-one before Ched Evans blazed the rebound wide. It proved to be pivotal when

Buendia fired City ahead from distance on 17 minutes.

But Teemu Pukki fluffed a chance to double Norwich’s lead, blasting wide after being put clean through by Buendia.

The Finn was inches away from making amends when he curled a shot just past the post. Pukki was unlucky again when he rattled the crossbar after he got on the end of Kieran Dowell’s ball over the top.

He blew more chances to ad to Norwich’s advantage, firing straight at the keeper before chipping a shot just wide after being played in by Buendia.

The wasteful finishing proved costly when Potts levelled after his shot deflected in off Andrew Omobamidele.
