STUTTER FOR SUTTON GIVES RIVALS HOPE

-

LEADERS SUTTON were left frustrated after being held to a goalless draw at mid-table BOREHAM WOOD.

Matt Gray’s table-toppers are two points clear at the summit with three games in hand after extending their unbeaten run to 13 matches.

But Sutton will see it as two points dropped even though Kabongo Tshimanga wasted the best chance for the hosts.

HARTLEPOOL remain on their coattails thanks to Gavan Holohan’s second-half winner in their 2-1 home victory over DAGENHAM.

“We knew it would be a tough game but we made it more difficult than it needed to be,” said Holohan. “I’m just delighted to get the winner in another important match.”

Matt Robinson cancelled out an opener from Rhys Oates (top) for Hartlepool before Holohan had the final say.

TORQUAY beat WOKING 1-0 after top scorer Danny Wright marked his return following three months out through injury with a late winner.

Wright got between two Woking defenders at the near post to stab the ball home from Adam Randell’s cross.

Torquay boss Gary Johnson (above) said: “It was important we found that bit of quality to win it. It’s great for Danny to come back and get a goal. We are delighted to just get the win at this stage of the season.”

Promotion rivals STOCKPORT are also in the hunt after a 2-1 win at ALDERSHOT. Jack Stretton and Ash Palmer were on target for County.

Ian Burchnall claimed a first victory as NOTTS COUNTY boss as Mark Ellis’ goal saw off play-off rivals WREXHAM.

Wrexham saw their seven-game unbeaten run come to an end despite County striker Kyle Wootton being sent off late on.

In-form CHESTERFIELD continued their promotion charge with Liam Mandeville sinking EASTLEIGH. That gave the Spireites an eighth victory in their last 11 matches.

WEYMOUTH beat 10-man MAIDENHEAD 2-1, with Andrew Dallas’ 96th-minute penalty sealing their comeback win.

Honours ended even as BROMLEY drew 2-2 with WEALDSTONE while SOLIHULL MOORS beat BARNET 2-0.
