EUROS ARE THE GOAL FOR OLLIE

- BY JAMES NURSEY

OLLIE WATKINS aims to head into the Euros on the back of a flurry of goals for Aston Villa.

The England new boy followed up his debut goal against San Marino with the clincher in a 3-1 win over Fulham.

It capped Villa’s dramatic late comeback after sub Trezeguet scored twice in quick succession.

Watkins, the club’s record £28million buy, ended a seven-game scoring drought.

And he is looking to boost his haul further in Villa’s run-in after putting Fulham to the sword yesterday.

“Hopefully I can score more goals now,” said Watkins.

“I have got one here and hopefully I can find a bit of form going into these last few games and get my tally up and the team up the board.”

Villa were trailing with 13 minutes to play but then stormed to victory with a three-goal blitz.

Watkins (above right, celebrating with Matty Cash) added: “We hadn’t come back from a goal down and won very often, so it is good we have shown some character there.

“We have been trying but it hasn’t been coming off for us.

“Hopefully we can go on a good run now and get back to how we were playing at the start of the season.”

But Trezeguet could be in trouble after he celebrated his second goal by holding a finger to his lips and pointing a finger at his temple.

Asked about his player’s gesture, Villa boss Dean Smith replied: “I have no idea.

“I don’t know. I will have to look back at his Arsenal goal (last season) to see if he did the same celebration.”
