PEARSON: I NOAH WE CAN STOP THE ROT

- BY ALEX BYWATER

NIGEL PEARSON has called on his Bristol City players to show some fight and take a leaf out of 19-yearold Han-noah Massengo’s book.

The Robins are on a shocking run of form and suffered their seventh straight home defeat at the hands of Stoke on Good

Friday.

Pearson takes his side to lowly Coventry today desperate to turn things around.

“I can accept failure on the pitch if I think we’ve given ourselves the best chance,” he said. “It’s a very quick turnaround – but it’s the same for everybody.

“I’ve got no qualms about making tough decisions on players and what we want is them showing the passion to play for us.”

French midfield rookie Massengo (top) was one bright note for Pearson in a horror afternoon against Stoke. Defeat to the Potters did not help Pearson’s bid to seal the Bristol job on a fulltime basis.

But he added: “If we had a few more like Han-noah in terms of a desire to make things happen, we’d be a lot better. He represents what I look for in players when they get a chance in the side and they do everything they can, not just to secure their place, but to improve as well.

“He’s a really good example of that and was a real bright spark.”

Mark Robins is hoping the softly, softly approach will see his struggling Sky Blues return to winning ways.

Coventry slipped to 21st after a dreadful 3-0 drubbing at QPR on Friday.

But boss Robins (above) revealed there were no flying tea cups at full-time as he aims to keep the pressure off his players.

He said: “It was a case of picking them up. For us it is about bouncing back quickly and getting the players back in a position to try and hurt Bristol City.”
