Your best guest? Sir David
TV wildlife guru, Freddie Mercury & Churchill top dream dinner invitees
SIR David Attenborough has been named as the guest people would most like at a dinner party – though he may not approve of the menu.
The environmentalist, 94, beat Queen singer Freddie Mercury, broadcaster Stephen Fry, the Queen and Sir Winston Churchill in a survey.
The poll of 2,000 people found the dream dinner would be held at luxury London hotel The Ritz at 7pm on a Saturday with Queen on the playlist.
A traditional roast was picked as the top menu choice, followed by steak and chips second, and rack of lamb in third place. Although a veggie option may be needed for Sir David, who aims to eat less meat for the sake of the planet.
Cheesecake was the most popular pud, with a cheese board and salted caramel profiteroles proving the next most popular choices.
When it came to drink,
TOP Churchill and Mercury most opted for champagne, followed by red wine and white wine. Gin and tonic and prosecco made up the top five chosen tipples.
As the country moves out of lockdown, clotted cream maker Rodda’s asked people what they most missed about dinner parties. Four in 10 said seeing family and friends, three in 10 said captivating conversation, and two in 10 said cooking a meal for loved ones.
Managing director Nick Rodda said: “With the year that we’ve all experienced, people have turned to nostalgia, tradition and the things they love to bring them comfort.
“It’s heartwarming, and not surprising, to hear that the thing people have missed most about dinner parties over the past year is spending time with friends and family. Food brings people together for an extra special moment.”
