Bhoys Cup half full as Old Firm collision nears

- BY CRAIG SWAN

GREG TAYLOR insists Celtic are ready to go for their last shot at silver.

The Parkhead side face Rangers in a last 16 Scottish Cup showdown at Ibrox this weekend with their trophy hopes for the term on the line.

Despite winning the delayed final of the 2019/20 tournament to rack up an historic and remarkable Quadruple Treble back in December, Taylor and his team-mates have seen their nineyear stranglehold on the Premiership and Betfred Cup broken.

The Hoops now have just one chance left to take something from the 2020/21 campaign and that last-ditch bid for silverware goes on the line in the backyard of Steven Gerrard’s title winners.

Taylor knows the importance of the mission they’ll undertake across Glasgow and they come into the game on a high after routing Livingston on Saturday. James

Forrest and David Turnbull netted to reward first-half dominance before a Jack Fitzwater own goal, a Mohamed Elyounoussi double and a late Ryan Christie finish sealed the 6-0 win.

He said: “We are confident going into every game. We are Celtic. We’re a massive club. We expect to win.

“You have got to look forward to these size of games.

“We’ve only got one opportunity because it is a cup tie but regardless of who you are playing, you have to get it right on the day.

“It’s a big game on Saturday, a massive game. Every game is big at Celtic, but it’s a cup tie and is in the one competition we have left to play for before the end of the season.”
