RORY DONNELLY bagged a delicious double at the Oval to keep Glentoran on title track.

The 29-year-old rammed home pass from Robbie Mcdaid after only three minutes before scoring one of the most bizarre goals of the season on the half-hour.

Roy Carroll rushed off his line to head clear, but when the ball fell to Donnelly, his header looped over the stranded shot-stopper and a posse of Dungannon Swifts defenders before bouncing into the net from fully 40 yards.

“It was a fantastic piece of finishing,” purred Glentoran boss Mick Mcdermott.

“Rory (inset with Dungannon’s Caolin Coyle) is now showing the form he has produced in the Irish League for multiple years and in England.

“He has formed a great partnership with is brother Jay and Robbie Mcdaid.”

Swifts coach Terry Fitzpatrick said: “We were not brave enough on the ball and the goals were preventable – very preventable.”
