■ After being hassled by all sorts of scammers, I now have a call blocker set up on my phone line. I have to take care so I don’t blocker a friendly call! If I know it’s a scam, I press the button and put the phone down. Result – scammer has to change their phone number to contact me.
Strange I’ve had no scams lately – must have got the message.

Ed: Great idea, Mick. I use BT Call Protect to stop nuisance callers. Although I must admit, I haven’t heard from my mum in a while…
■ Please pass on my thanks to reader Toni Jones from Essex who alerted us to the National Insurance number scam that’s going around. I had a similar call and thanks to Toni I was aware it was a scam.

■ In reply to Friday’s Ye Olde Shoppe old cures, you might like to know that leeches are still used in modern medicine.
Leech therapy can be used after plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Ed: I believe forms of trepanning are still available too, but I think I’d still rather take a couple of paracetamol.
■ I loved the pug/croissant meme last Thursday. It reminded me of a song on Youtube called Boots/cats.
If you’ve not heard it before, believe me the ditty was in my head for days. Thank you for making me smile today.

Ed: Ear-worm alert, folks. Er thanks for that, Simon, although I did dance to worse in the 90s. Catbee…zz…zz… catbee…
