A MUM has told how being unable to play with her kids because of her weight led her to drop five dress sizes during lockdown.

Lisa Anderson said her weight left her “feeling miserable” after a lifetime of habits of snacking on unhealthy foods and eating the leftovers from her children’s plates.

AFTER

But now, the Belfast mum of three said her life has changed for Mum shed 7.5 stone good after she lost seven and a half stone and dropped from a dress size 20 to a size 10.

She told the Mirror: “I felt miserable about my weight. The kids wanted to go and play in the park and I felt terrible that I couldn’t join in. I was constantly grazing on the kids’ leftovers and would have ate their crisps and snacks which made me feel worse.” Joining her local Slimming World Group in Ravenhill, East Belfast, was a big step forward for the 39-year-old who admits the last year has been a challenge. Lisa said: “When I joined Slimming World I felt understood.

“This year has had its ups and downs, and although it’s been challenging to stay motivated at times, the constant support of my group and consultant – both in person and virtually when our group wasn’t able to open – has kept me going. I never imagined coming this far, especially during this pandemic.” Lisa began following Slimming World’s Food Optimising healthy eating plan, which encourages members to satisfy their appetite on healthy foods such as pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, fish, fruit and veg and more.

JOURNEY

She explained the range of food she was allowed to eat on the plan that worked for the whole family has been a huge help on her weight loss journey.

Lisa said: “I was amazed that I could eat so much and still lose weight. The kids loved the food I made like curries, pizza etc and they automatically go for fruit now rather than sweets.”

Liza Trainor, who runs the Ravenhill Slimming World group, said she’s extremely proud of Lisa especially as she embraced the virtual group and

never missed a week.

She added: “She has come so far since the first time she walked through my group doors and watching her transform into a confident, new person has been inspiring to see.

“Now she has lost this incredible amount of weight, she feels so much healthier and fitter for her kids and now has a new lifelong eating plan that is so easy to do.”

■ The Ravenhill Slimming World group is open again and held every Saturday from 8am to 11am at UT Church. To join or find out more call Liza on 07788146944. Due to new safety measures, all members are asked to book into a group before attending.
