A PERSONAL development coach has spoken about her efforts to raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention.

It comes as Annette Kelly gets behind Darkness Into Light Sunrise Walk 2021 on May 8.

The founder of Little Penny Thoughts, who has amassed half a million followers on social media thanks to her inspirational messages and life advice, said she’s proud to be a mental health advocate and supporter of the vent which is Pieta’s flagship annual event. Annette said: “I’ve been an ambassador for Darkness Into Light since 2018.

“Electric Ireland asked me to be an ambassador and I now back the campaign every year because I really do believe in the power of it, and I believe in the power of unity.

“These recent times have been difficult, but throughout everything over the last few months, we’ve still needed to join together and campaigns like Darkness Into Light allow us to do that in really important ways.

“It shows us uniting together against suicide, breaking the stigma around suicide and self-harm, and also creating awareness that there is help out there for those who need it.”

Annette has been a passionate mental health advocate for years, helping others in their darkest times, as well being open about her own experiences and breaking the stigma.

Annette said: “I’ve walked that walk, I’ve had those struggles as well, so I can relate to a lot of people when it comes to battling with their emotions.

“I think what most people want is for someone to communicate with them and make them not feel alone.”
