HEARN HAS FEW LEEDS IN SEARCH FOR A RIVAL

- BY CHRIS MCKENNA

EDDIE HEARN is planning to take Katie Taylor to the home city of her favourite football team Leeds – and she could face old amateur rival Estelle Mossely.

The Matchroom chief

(inset) wants the Irish ace to return to the ring on September 4 when he is planning to stage Josh Warrington’s rematch with Mauricio Lara at Headingley, the home of Leeds Rhinos.

Former Republic of

Ireland soccer international Taylor, 34, is a Leeds supporter so he sees her as a perfect co-main event.

Then Hearn is planning a Jonas rematch or a blockbuster battle with Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano before the end of the year.

Hearn said: “She has about seven mandatories lining up. I want her to box on a huge show I’m doing in

Leeds on September 4.”

The Bray ace has beaten the French fighter three times as an amateur but Mossely came out on top the last time they met in the 2016 world championships semi-finals.

Mossely also won gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the year Taylor missed out on a medal after a quarterfinal defeat by Mira Potkonen.

Taylor and Jonas served up an exciting fight at Manchester Arena on Saturday which the Irishwoman edged.

Hearn said: “It was incredible.

“Katie started really flat, she’s really disappointed with the performance actually.

“Everyone’s going ‘what a fight, what a fight’ and she’s going ‘it was terrible’.

“But Natasha was really good. Joe Gallagher had a great game plan and Natasha punches really hard as well.”
