Wills reveals Kate wants him to be the next Monty Don..
THE Duchess of Cambridge has planted a seed in Prince William’s mind about becoming a dab hand in the garden like his dad.
Wills has revealed wife Kate is introducing him to the work of celebrity horticulturist Monty Don.
The prince said at an allotment: “My wife does all the gardening. I really like it but I have no idea what I’m doing.”
William, 38, was chatting on a visit to the Men’s Sheds project in Rhyl, North Wales, which is encouraging isolated men to build things and grow vegetables together. Group co-ordinator Brian Penney, 52, said later: “He told me Kate is getting him into gardening.
“She’s going to get him Monty Don’s book.
“He said she wants to get him into it because Charles is into it, so it’s something for them to enjoy together.”
Men’s Sheds is one of eight groups making up the Brighter Futures community project. Wills, who was at Brighter Futures for an hour, said about Men’s Sheds: “With the rural areas these are really important.
That might be the only contact these men get.” He also joked about a watering can, saying: “Nice pink colour.
“That’s a lovely mermaid. Very masculine for the Men’s Shed.”
Meanwhile, Kate, 39, has promised to wear a pink dress when she meets a little girl who is undergoing chemotherapy for leukaemia.
In the first lockdown when Mila Sneddon was four, she was separated from her dad for seven weeks because he had to go to work and could not risk taking Covid into the family home in Falkirk. Mila was photographed kissing a window as her father stood outside.
The image was one of 100 pictures selected for the Hold Still photography initiative launched by Kate and the National Portrait Gallery last year.
In a phone chat recorded in the autumn but posted on the Cambridges’ new Youtube channel yesterday, Mila said she loves pink.
Kate said she would have to get a frock in that colour so “when one day hopefully we’ll get to meet... I’ll remember to wear my pink dress”. Mila is now five and is currently in hospital.
