NO ONE LIKES BILLY

Canelo: He’s even unpopular in UK

- BY DAVID ANDERSON Boxing Correspondent

SAUL ‘CANELO’ ALVAREZ has hit back at Billy Joe Saunders, claiming he and “90 percent of people” in England don’t like him.

Alvarez is unimpressed by Saunders’ behaviour ahead of their supermiddleweight unification showdown on Sunday and says he has been talking “s**t” about him for years.

The pound-for-pound king says he is not alone and that most people in the UK were switched off by him, too.

“Ninety percent of the people don’t like him,” said the WBA Super and WBC champ (above).

Alvarez, 30, says his antipathy for Brit Saunders gives their clash at the AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Texas, an extra edge. And he has warned the unbeaten WBO title holder he has never faced anyone as good as him.

“This fight is different because he has been talking s**t about me for years,” said the Mexican ring legend.

“Before the first fight, the

Golovkin fight, he was there talking s**t about me. That’s why this fight is different for me. I’m the same way I always am. My mind is calm.

“This fight is going to be different for him. He’s in a different level fight now and he’s going to see what will happen. This isn’t like Martin Murray or other guys he has fought before.”

Saunders, 31, tried to rattle Alvarez at their face-off when he jabbed his finger in his face and said: “You’ve never been in the ring with someone like me. You’ve never seen anybody with my heart.”

Eddie Hearn is promoting their clash (with the pair, below) and says he would love Alvarez to fight at Wembley and tour the world.

The Matchroom MD feels he could do huge numbers at Wembley and would also like to see him fight in his home city of Guadalajara in Mexico, the Middle East and Tokyo.

“It would be unbelievable to see him fight at Wembley because I know how much he’d love it,” said Hearn. “There’s so much more for him to experience, you know, Wembley, the Middle East, Tokyo, a huge show in Guadalajara.”
