WARBURTON: DYKES CAN HURT LIONS

MARK WARBURTON hopes protecting Lyndon Dykes so he can star for Scotland in the Euros will not backfire on England.

QPR boss Warburton played down fears over a knee injury, revealing Dykes was withdrawn at half-time as a precaution.

Now Warburton is hoping the striker (above, receiving treatment), whose header set up Charlie Austin for Rangers’ opener, will not have a big impact against the Three Lions on June 18. Warburton said: “Lyndon was desperate to come back on the pitch.

“He thought he was OK but the doctor said no. We have to look after him.

“He has a big summer ahead of him, hopefully he won’t score against England at Wembley.”

Luton deservedly levelled on 43 minutes through impressive loanee Kiernan Dewsbury-hall. But the hosts secured a top 10 finish thanks to Stefan Johansen’s dinked goal and Albert Adomah’s late tap-in.

Hatters manager Nathan Jones wants to keep Leicester midfielder Dewsbury-hall for a second season. He said: “If there’s any way that we can get him back, we will do that. But when we take talented players they usually develop at such a rate that it’s very difficult to see them again, and that’s a credit to our environment.”
