ROBINS CAN BELIEVE IN A MIRACLE NOW

- BY TIM NASH

MARK ROBINS paid tribute to the “miracle” effort to keep Coventry afloat as the club prepares to return to the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues signed off after two years at St Andrew’s with their biggest win since April 2018 to finish 16th in the Championship – their highest position for 15 years.

But the club has the second lowest playing budget in the division and boss Robins (above) checked expectations ahead of the return home.

He said: “It’s an absolute miracle everyone has received all their wages.

“We got promoted last year and everyone has received the bonuses they were due, and all without supporters.

“So credit to everyone at the club. To stay in this league is a phenomenal achievement.

“There are players we want to recruit, so we want to stretch ourselves – but who knows?“

Coventry cruised to victory with goals from Jordan Shipley, Kyle Mcfadzean – who also scored an own goal – Dom Hyam, Callum O’hare, Matty James and sub Tyler Walker.

Millwall boss Gary Rowett had a warning for his players after keeper Bartosz Bialkowski accused Bristol City of hitting the beaches when the Lions beat them 4-1 the previous week.

Rowett said: “You’ve got to be respectful where you can and I’ve had a word about those wrong comments about Bristol City.

“They shouldn’t be doing that. Football has a funny way of slapping you in the chops.”
