hold up the pads when she’s training,” he says. “She purposefully misses once or twice and hits me on the chin.

“I think that’s why she never argues. She’s waiting for the boxing so she can give me a right hook!”

Harry has filmed his cameo in Eastenders to coincide with the European Championships in the summer.

He has also been filming in London for his Sky show, in which he and former England star Jamie have proved a great double act.

In last week’s show Jamie played a prank on him during an appearance on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? when the £300 question was about his son’s Liverpool career.

Jamie was his “phone a friend” but gave the wrong answer and Harry was told he was leaving empty-handed – before the prank was revealed.

“He did me badly,” Harry says. “I wanted to cry because I was doing it for a charity I’m patron of. Then Jamie appeared and my heart sunk. We started again for real but I didn’t do much better. I’d like to get him back.”

Harry insists he will never return to managing, despite pleas from Tottenham fans since Jose Mourinho was sacked. Harry says: “Becoming a football manager turned me from a happy-go-lucky guy into a miserable git. It’s a different world, the pressure, it’s with you 24 hours a day.”

But he was disappointed at the sacking of nephew Frank Lampard from Chelsea in January. Harry says: “They were just on a bad little run, but I thought they’d win the next five to six games. Unfortunately he never got the chance. Frank will be back, he’s a clever boy and he’s got so much to offer. I know he’s already turned down a few decent offers.”

As for the future of football, Harry reckons we have not seen the last of the European Super League. He says: “People talk about the other 14 teams, but they weren’t happy because they didn’t get asked. If they’d been asked they’d have stuck their hand up straight away, I have no doubt about that.

“The other day a foreign guy got in touch with me wanting to buy an English football club. He didn’t care which one, he sees it as an investment.

“The owners today aren’t interested in the club or the fans who’ve supported them for years. They’ll end up taking the games all around the world because they’re only interested in the money. It’s inevitable.”
