BBC Louise’s stalker facing jail for threats
Ex-soldier sent intimidating messages
A FORMER soldier is facing jail after he admitted stalking EX-BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin.
Carl Davies, 44, was due to face trial yesterday for intimidating the star and her adult daughter Mia on Instagram.
He changed his pleas to guilty before a jury was sworn in. Davies previously walked free after stalking Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts.
Judge Nicola Saffman said: “This is a repeat offence and the content of messages was extremely alarming, very serious, very intimidating and clearly was intended to maximise distress.”
She adjourned sentencing until December 15 for a psychiatric report on the exserviceman, who claims to be suffering from PTSD.
The judge added: “I need this to be very clear for Mr Davies that the most likely outcome will be
TARGETED immediate imprisonment.” The Iraq veteran targeted Minchin between July 14 and July 17 last year.
It was during the period of a suspended sentence for stalking Roberts. His lawyer said Davies works as a protection officer and had little PTSD care. He added he was drinking at the time of the offences.
Davies, from Flint, North Wales, had initially denied two charges of stalking, causing serious alarm or distress. At Caernarfon crown court, he was bailed and ordered not to contact the family. Previously, a hearing was told the BBC presenter lived in a “constant state of anxiety”. Minchin, 53, stepped back from social media in late 2019 because of trolling.
At the first hearing, an order banning publication of the Minchins’ identities was granted. It was later lifted by a crown court judge.
