Actors sign up for movie about a retired assassin set in Irish village
LIAM Neeson will play another tough guy assassin alongside Kin star Ciaran Hinds.
The Co Antrim star has been signed up to portray a retired killer in movie In The Land of Saints And Sinners.
Set in a remote Irish village, the 69-year-old will play a newly-retired hitman who finds himself drawn into a lethal game of cat and mouse with a trio of vengeful terrorists.
He will play opposite Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy actor Hinds, who can currently be seen portraying evil crime boss Eamon Cunningham in RTE’S In The Land of Saints and Sinners reunites Neeson with director Robert Lorenz who made The Marksman which topped the US box office earlier this year.
Filming is due to get under way in March next year.
It’s the latest in a long line of action thrillers for the Schindler’s List actor who reinvented himself with the Taken trilogy. The new film will follow in the footsteps of Honest Thief, Cold Pursuit, The Commuter and Non-stop which all had him overcoming great odds to beat the bad guys.
He will also soon be seen in three more films currently in postkin. production, Blacklight, Memory and Retribution. Earlier this month, the Ballymena man appeared on RTE’S Late Late Show to talk about his latest project, producing an international film on the Tuam Babies scandal. He said: “For the first time in my life and I’ve made some 93/94 films, I never felt this way before. I was lying on to my bed, I shot up straight and I thought I’m going to do something about this. Whatever celebrity status I have in the film world, I’m going to do something.”
