BBC Breakfast star Louise warns fans: I’m A Celeb-scruffy

LOUISE Minchin has warned her BBC Breakfast fans she will look much less polished on I’m A Celebrity and her embarrassed daughters have even urged her to remember to brush her hair.

Louise, 53, is all set to embrace camp life by not worrying about her appearance, after 20 years without a hair out of place on the show before leaving in September.

She said: “I think viewers will be surprised, I’m going to look completely different to how they normally see me sitting on the sofa, with my hair nicely done, make-up, etc.

“I think they’ll also hopefully be surprised I’ve got probably more of a sense of humour than they can see on BBC Breakfast.

“I shall try not to be embarrassing. The main thing they [daughters Mia and Scarlett with husband David] said to me is that I need to brush my hair.”

Louise, who hosted BBC Breakfast with Strictly Come Dancing contestant Dan Walker, also vowed to wear a swimming costume rather than a bikini when she uses the I’m A Celebrity shower. And she is taking a fluffy hot water bottle into the castle to try to combat the cold as she suffers from Raynaud’s Syndrome.

Louise also said she would find it strange having cameras on her at all times instead of just from 6.30am to 9am.

She added: “Obviously on Breakfast, I know when the mics are not on and I know when the cameras are off. I’ll try to remember there are cameras and microphones around me all the time, but I’m sure very soon I’m going to forget that.”

The star, who met campmates including DJ Snoochie Shy in Wales this week, also vowed to be the camp gossip.

She said: “That’s in my nature, I’m a journalist.

“I’m sure there’ll be lots of people with amazing stories and I really look forward to hearing that.

“I never stop talking, so hopefully there’ll be lots of really good stuff to talk about.”
