ANTONIO CONTE has explained why he has banned fast food, ketchup and mayonnaise for Tottenham’s underachievers.

The new Spurs boss has been quick to implement the dietary changes that helped Chelsea become Premier League champions under him in 2017.

The tougher regime comes after Conte halted the run of disappointing results last month which cost Nuno Espirito Santo his job.

Three of Conte’s six coaches will work on fitness, with the Italian determined to improve the physical conditioning of his players. Conte said: “At Chelsea we always spoke about the importance of eating well.

“At all the clubs I’ve been at I’ve had a nutritionist. It’s important because you have to stay at the right weight and to do that you have to have the good fat and the good muscle.

“This is a part of our job – to be professional.

“To be professional means you have to take care of your body. If you do this, you recover well and you are at less risk of injury. You are also ready to face training no matter how hard.”

Conte has warned his stars that he will find out if they think they can snaffle a cheeky pizza or Mcdonalds away from the training ground.

“For sure I can check with the nutritionist,” he said.

“If his charts say you are not OK it means that maybe you’re not doing the right things when you are away from training. “The training and the game is

only the final part of your work. You have to prepare your body, your mind and also your heart.”

Spurs host struggling Leeds tomorrow hoping to kick-start their season with a first Premier League win since a 3-2 defeat of Newcastle on October 17. Since then they have lost to West Ham and Manchester United and drawn 0-0 at Everton.

Harry Kane will hope to hit the Premier League scoring trail after netting seven goals in two games for England in the international break.

Kane (left) has scored just once in the Premier

League this season but Conte has no doubts that the Three Lions captain is ready to show the

same deadly finishing in a Tottenham shirt. “I think every manager – every single manager – wants to sign Harry Kane,” the Italian (with Kane, left) said.

“We are talking about a top, top player and now I’m in the right place to enjoy Harry.

“I now have the possibility to work with him and to exploit his characteristic, his quality, and his potential.”
