DUNNE’S ‘FOUL’ TIRADE
Jockey accused of ‘sexually abusive language’
BY
ROBBIE DUNNE was said to have used “foul, sexually abusive and misogynistic language” towards Bryony Frost as the first day of his hearing in front of the British Horseracing Authority’s disciplinary panel got under way in London yesterday.
The case centres around allegations that jump jockey Dunne (above) had repeatedly bullied, verbally abused and threatened his fellow rider — conduct deemed “prejudicial to the integrity, good conduct and good reputation of horse racing”. Dunne was in attendance as the allegations were read out by Louis Weston for the BHA. His defence accepted one breach of ‘acting in a violent manner’ that took place at Southwell on September 3 when Dunne’s mount suffered a fatal injury.
Weston said the issue between the two riders started in the period 2017 to 2019 when Dunne behaved “inappropriately” in that he “displayed his naked self (to Frost) in a way that was unacceptable” on leaving a sauna in the weighing room.
Weston also stated the BHA had received a statement last week from a fence attendant at Stratford.
The witness claimed he heard Dunne calling Frost (right) a “f***ing slut”.
Dunne was said to have apologised for “calling (Frost) names” a few days later.
The BHA representative then said that at Uttoxeter last
August, Dunne told Frost at the start before a race: “I’m going to stop you murdering [cutting across] everyone, I’m going to murder you.”
Dunne’s defence team countered at the hearing by claiming someone had called him to threaten to “break his legs” on September 7.
Frost will attend today’s hearing, with Dunne’s legal team expected to make their opening statement.
