DON’T BE MISLED SOUTH CLUBS SHUT
MICHELLE O’neill has lashed out at the spreading of misinformation over further Covid-19 restrictions, branding it “absolutely disgraceful”.
The Deputy First Minister said there are currently no plans to introduce further restrictions before Christmas.
She added: “Times are hard enough, times are challenging enough so I would encourage everybody to take their information directly from ourselves who are elected in the Executive, the Public Health Agency and the department of health.
“We had an Executive meeting yesterday and I asked the Department of Health and the
Health Minister, ‘Are we doing enough today?’
“I was told the answer to that question is yes.”
NIGHTCLUBS and late bars in the Republic were ordered to shut for a month.
And the Taoiseach said attendance at indoor gigs like pantos and sports events will be cut in half.
Micheal Martin told the nation yesterday: “I understand fully the frustration. It’s going on for a long time now, but we simply cannot wish the virus away either.”
Nightclubs will close from Tuesday until January 9. The rules for hospitality are returning to the more limited ones that were in place before October 22. Closing time will be midnight, but going to the bar to order is gone, only six can sit at a table and multiple table bookings are banned again, effectively axing Christmas parties.
Indoor gigs and events, including sports, pantos and other entertainment, can only have 50% attendance from next week.
The use of Covid passes is being extended and will now have to be shown at the door of places like gyms, hotels and cinemas.
