Frankie: I’ve got West End musical bug

- BY MARK JEFFERIES Showbiz Editor

FRANKIE Bridge is hoping her stint on I’m A Celebrity will lead to a new career on stage in London’s West End.

The Saturdays singer, 32, would love to take part in a musical theatre production, such as Chicago, when she is finished on the ITV show.

But the Loose Women panellist admits it will be a big “commitment”, so she needs to choose carefully if she receives any offers when her time in Gwrych Castle is over.

Frankie, who has sons Parker, eight, and Carter, six, with former footballer husband Wayne Bridge, said: “I love that now I can choose the jobs I really want to do, or I can have the conversations I really want to have.

“I love doing Loose Women, I love writing, but now I get to play around with things and try things.

“I’m not done, I’m only 32, so I feel like there’s still so much left that I want to do. I still want to do musical theatre, that’s something I didn’t do when I was younger, on the West End.

“But I want to find the right one. It’s such a commitment, especially with children, so it would have to be one I really want to do for the first one.”

Asked if she is more of a Chicago or Lion King girl, she replied: “I love

Chicago. I know everyone loves Lion King, but...”

Millions saw Frankie sing on I’m A Celebrity’s Scary-oke trial on Thursday, in which she and music producer Naughty Boy earned food for the camp by downing blended animal bits while the other sang.

But Frankie has been worried in the past about whether she was “vocally enough” during her time in The Saturdays, when she performed with Una Healy, Rochelle Humes, Mollie King and Vanessa White.

When asked if she was being “framed as the Posh Spice” in the girl group – in reference to Victoria Beckham not being the main

singer in the Spice Girls – she told The Andy Jaye Podcast: “I suppose so, yeah. Not to be one of the main singers was a bit like... but the girls that did were insane, and that was fine.

“My favourite thing has always been dancing, so I loved just getting up there and dancing. I did sing but I realise my role was more about image

rather than talent, I suppose. At first, it hurt. I was like, ‘I thought I was all right.’ But I was just happy to be there.”

Jacqueline Jossa landed a West End role in A Christmas Carol after she won I’m A Celebrity in 2019.

I’m A Celeb is on ITV at 9.15pm.
