FRANK TELLS FRANK: BEE WARNED, WE ARE NOT ON THE BEACH

- BY IAN BAKER

THOMAS FRANK has warned Everton his Brentford side are determined to play at full pelt tomorrow as they want an “impossible” top 10 spot.

Frank Lampard’s Toffees are battling to survive while the Bees secured safety in their debut season in the Premier League this week.

But Frank has dismissed any suggestion that his side will be on the beach and insists they are motivated for a top-half spot, from which they are currently just two points away.

The Brentford boss said: “It’s big words but it is a minor miracle that we’re in the Premier League and where we are. The top 10 would be incredible and should not be possible.

“It’s all still new and exciting for us – every Premier League game matters massively. We’ve not signed players who don’t 100 percent want to compete to win.

“To be very clear, it will be an unbelievable atmosphere, it will be hostile. That atmosphere and tension means we can lose the game but I also believe we can win the game.

“I’ll be very disappointed if we lose and don’t perform. I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’m expecting high-energy, tension, I expect them to come flying at us and play with an extra edge that you can only find when you’re in that situation.”

Frank was yesterday among four other candidates to be announced on the shortlist for Premier League Manager of the Year.

The Dane said: “It’s an acknowledgement of all the great work the players and staff have put in.

“I’m the frontman and standing up to take the blame as well but we have fantastic staff behind us.

“We have togetherness, the way we are as a club and express that is unique. Every single action from the chef to the groundsman to medical matters. There is more in us. It’s a privilege to be nominated but it’s not about me.”
