JUVENTUS IN CHASE FOR GIFTS OF THE GAB

- EXCLUSIVE BY JOHN CROSS

JUVENTUS have launched a full-scale attempt to sign Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Italian giants see the Brazilian centre-half as the perfect replacement for veteran Georgio Chiellini, who is leaving the club this summer.

Juventus have been courting Gabriel for a while, but have now stepped up their attempts and believe they can net him this summer.

He joined Arsenal in 2020 from Lille in a deal worth up to £27million and the Gunners know they could easily double their money if they cash in, but they do not want to let him go.

The north Londoners are aware of the Serie A side’s interest and may look to offer him an improved deal, but Juve are refusing to take no for an answer.

The question will be whether they can turn Gabriel’s head with the lure of the Champions League after Arsenal missed out on Europe’s top competition.

They are looking to rebuild their squad having also made Paul Pogba a big offer to sign on a free this summer from Manchester

United. And they believe they are in pole position ahead of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-germain for the France midfielder.

Mikel Arteta has built a solid defence around Gabriel (above) and his centre-back partner Ben White.

And the Arsenal boss (left) will be determined to keep Gabriel, although the Gunners are already on the look out for a left-sided centre-half to improve their squad.

Arsenal have France defender William Saliba on loan at Marseille and could recall him this summer, but he has stated he is keen to stay at Stade Velodrome.
