HERE’S ONE FOR LIVERPOOL FANS

-

BECOME a Liverpool supporter for Haydock’s bet365 Old Newton Cup.

LIVERPOOL KNIGHT (3.15) looks a good bet to taste glory at the Merseyside track.

He has a top pedigree but he hasn’t really clicked until joining talented trainer Kevin Philippart de Foy ahead of his comeback run at Windsor early last month.

The way he came through from off the pace on the testing conditions suggested he is really well weighted and the good to soft ground clearly won’t be a problem.

He stays further than this 1m4f distance so this test of stamina is sure to suit him. Have 2pts each-way at 9-1. Most bookies are paying out on five places.

Earlier on Haydock’s card, DOUBLE CHERRY (2.05) should love the step up to 1m6f for the first time. I was impressed with the way he came home to make a successful handicap debut at Goodwood three weeks ago.

He had run with plenty of promise in some good novice races earlier in his career so he should be able to cope with a rise in the weights.

The easy ground is also ideal and Tom Ward (left) looks to have a progressive young stayer on his hands.

Have 2pts win at 13-2, with Sky Bet paying out on five places.

Three-year-olds have a fine record in the Coral Charge at Sandown.

That’s just one of the reasons why TIPPY

TOES (1.50) should have an excellent chance in the Group 3 sprint.

She has had no luck since completing a hat-trick of all-weather wins with a 6f Listed victory at Chelmsford in April. This 5f distance is no problem as she has stacks of pace.

Mark and Charlie Johnston’s filly didn’t get the clearest of runs from an unhelpful draw in the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock and fortune again deserted her at Royal Ascot. She continually found her path blocked in the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes.

There doesn’t look like a huge amount of early pace in this 5f dash and she might well be able to dictate the gallop under former champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa. Have 2pts each-way at 9-1 if all eight runners stand their ground.
