IBROX KEEPER BUTLAND WARNS: WRITE GERS OFF AT YOUR PERIL

- BY ANDY NEWPORT

JACK BUTLAND insists he has no doubt Rangers can silence the critics by winning all six remaining Premiership fixtures and lifting the title.

Sunday’s shock defeat at Ross

County means the

Ibrox side could require a flawless final few weeks to the campaign – including when they visit Celtic Park on May 11 – to be certain of glory.

But the goalkeeper is adamant that is well within the powers of Philippe Clement’s players who, he says, have been written off all season. Rangers play their final game in hand this evening in Dundee, knowing that a victory will cut the gap at the top to a single point.

And Butland said: “We know how many games are left and what we can do. It’s about putting Sunday’s result behind us quick. “We all know that. You don’t need to ask or look to see anyone’s reaction to see we weren’t happy. It’s about bouncing back.

“If we win every game we win the league. And that’s the worst case scenario.

“We have to take each game at a time and win each one.”

Asked if he believed they can do that, Butland said: “Without a d o u b t . We know we s h o u l d have been better against Ross County. But we’ve earned the right to be where we are at the moment.

“We’re in a title race and that’s warranted. It’s a massive push from now until the end of the season to achieve something special.”

Clement (left) labelled Sunday’s defeat in Dingwall as the worst performance on his tenure and Butland admits it’s been a timely boot up the backside.

He said: “Unfortunately, we didn’t do too many things well on the weekend so for everybody it’s been a good wake-up call.

“A good reset if you like and we have to use the disappointment from the weekend to kick on for the last six games of the league.”
