MILLIONS of Brits could die early due to a blow to the head playing sport as a child.

Just over 9% of a study group of Swedes had suffered a traumatic brain injury before aged 25 – with 76% of these more likely to need disability payments and 72% more likely to have died before the age of 41.

Lead researcher Dr Amir Sariaslan, of Oxford University, said: “We found even a single mild TBI will predict poor adult functionin­g.”
