Victim saved by secret call

A BRAVE mum was rescued from an attack by her vicious fiance after calling 999 and hiding her phone from him.

The call handler heard Donna Speirs, 32, screaming for help as Myles Leyden threatened to murder her.

The thug also threw a knife over their baby’s cot as four other children cried in the next room. When police arrived, Leyden hid in bed, pretending to be asleep.

Leyden, 27, pleaded guilty to assault and was jailed for 11 months at Greenock Sheriff Court, near Glasgow.
