SHAMED businessman David Hoare’s resignation as chair of Ofsted is in the interests of England’s schoolchildren.

The departing watchdog head’s judgement was clearly flawed when he claimed “inbreeding” people on the Isle of Wight live in a “ghetto”.

We urge Education Secretary Justine Greening to appoint a respected figure as the new chair after her predecessor controversially imposed Amanda Spielman as chief inspector of schools, despite an all-party group of MPs concluding she was unsuitable for such an important post.

Teachers demand good behaviour from pupils so we’re all entitled to expect it from Ofsted.
