I WANT A JOB BUT HE’S NOT SUPPORTIVE

-

Dear Coleen

I worked as a dental nurse for years before having my three children, who are now five, seven and eight.

When I got pregnant with our first son, my partner and I agreed it would be better for me to quit my job and be a full-time mum.

We had our son and a few months after he was born I became pregnant again, so we had two children 14 months apart.

There was no question of me going back to work. I loved being a mum and then a few years later I had our little girl and our family was complete. She’s starting school this September and I feel like now is the time to go back to work.

I need a bit of myself back and I want to earn my own money, but my partner is being difficult about it.

There’s good local childcare and I’d only work part-time so I’d still be around for the kids, but my partner is still against it and says the family need me at home. How can I make him see he’s being unreasonable?
