ROSS WRAPS IT UP FOR THE TOFFEES

-

ROSS BARKLEY is loving life at Goodison Park – and proved it by scoring for the second home game running.

Barkley’s bending freekick, with just over 20 minutes left, beat Artur Krysiak at his near post to end League Two strugglers Yeovil’s hopes of an upset. Darren Way’s men were disciplined and dogged, but Everton just had a little too much class for them.

And that was proved by the superb one-touch move which led to Aaron Lennon opening the scoring just before the half-hour.

Barkley and Romelu Lukaku combined to send James McCarthy clear down the right and he dragged the ball back for Lennon to tap in, with Yeovil’s defence in shreds.

Lukaku almost scored moments before, turning Barkley’s corner goalwards at the near post, only for Alex Lawless to clear off the line. The Belgium international, making his first start this season, had two chances in the first 20 minutes of the second half too, but failed to take either.

But Everton did add two more goals late on, with substitute Arouna Kone grabbing a brace to give the scoreline a less than flattering look for Yeovil.
