Fall in nurses is risk to kids
CHILDREN are being put at risk by a decrease in school nurses, a union has warned.
The medics play a key role in sex and relationships education, and safeguarding youngsters against sexual exploitation and abuse, says the Royal College of Nursing.
England has 14% fewer school nurses now than in 2010, NHS figures show.
Fiona Smith, of the RCN, said: “School nurses protect the most vulnerable.
“The Government should be prioritising this expertise, not cutting the roles when we need them most.”
