CHRISTENSEN CLINCHES IT

-

Fulham 2 Middlesbrough 1 (after extra time, 1-1 at 90mins)

FULHAM left Middlesbrough stunned to put a smile back on Slavisa Jokanovic’s face.

Jokanovic’s row with the club’s hierarchy over their transfer policy and reliance on stats guru Craig Kline overshadowed the build-up to this second round tie.

But his players helped take his mind off the off-field turmoil by fighting back from a goal down to beat their Premier League visitors. Boro took the lead after just eight minutes when David Nugent (right) beat two Fulham defenders to head in Fabio da Silva’s cross.

But Fulham levelled in the 55th minute after Boro midfielder Julien de Sart put through his own net.

And, with five minutes to go in extra time, Fulham grabbed a deserved winner when Lasse Vigen Christensen put in Scott Malone’s cross.
