HAMMERS SNAP UP NEW ED BOY FOR £5.5M

WEST HAM have signed Sion’s Edimilson Fernandes for £5.5million. The 20-year-old (right), an attacking midfielder who has played for Switzerland’s Under-21 side, will sign a fouryear deal pending a medical. Fernandes is the cousin of ex-Manchester City midfielder Gelson Fernandes and played 26 times in the Swiss Super League last season, scoring once.

He also played against Liverpool in the Europa League last October.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has moved for Fernandes to deepen his midfield options, with Alex Song having left the club and several sides in Italy keen on Pedro Obiang.
