‘Mia attacker put up post about death’
A FRENCHMAN charged with the murder of backpacker Mia Ayliffe-Chung claimed he would “die soon”.
Smail Ayad, 29, is said to have left a bizarre message on Facebook before he allegedly stabbed Mia 12 times.
It is claimed the message said: “I am a victim. I feel I’m going to die soon. Whoever you are who like me, please follow me. I love everyone.”
Later on Tuesday, Mia, 20, from Matlock, Derbys, was dragged from her hostel bed at Home Hill, Queensland, and repeatedly stabbed.
The attacker then knifed Tom Jackson, 30, of Congleton, Cheshire, 20 times. He is still fighting for his life in hospital in Australia.
A third Brit, Chris Porter, from Kent, broke his ankles.
Det Supt Ray Rohweder said CCTV footage of the attacks was “horrific”.
