Canary in fan is extracted

A FIRE crew that rescued a canary from an extractor fan posted a picture of the bird on Twitter, joking it was the “first tweet of the day”.

Basil the canary got stuck when its owner let him out for a “flutter” at her home.

Fireman Stephen Keevil said they had to take apart the extractor fan in Falmouth, Cornwall .

He added: “The lady has four canaries and lets them out for a little flutter.

“How and why this one ended up in the extractor fan remains a mystery.”
