QI’m a 63-year-old woman and I have grown a moustache. I’ve also noticed my voice is getting deeper. Is it an age thing? Could you tell me how I can get rid of it? It is an age thing and it’s because you’re not producing oestrogen any more after the menopause.

However, your adrenal glands are continuing to produce male hormone testosterone which is responsible for your sex drive. With no oestrogen around to balance it, you will grow facial hair like

Aa moustache. The deepening of your voice is also because of testosterone. It enlarges your voice box (larynx) to resemble a man’s. There are several ways to tackle your moustache. Sugaring is a method used by Asian women and you might enquire about that at your local beauty salon. You can also try electrolysis to get rid of the hair for good, but on your upper lip you’d probably be able to stand the removal of only five or six hairs at each visit.
