CELL
Cert 15, Running time 95mins
Zombies go on the march again in a disappointing horror flick based on a Stephen King novel. Filmmakers rarely have much success bringing the writer’s work to the big screen – but Cell might be the worst adaptation yet.
John Cusack is a father of one who, while catching a flight to see his son, is caught up in a bloodbath with everyone using a mobile phone transformed into ravenous zombies.
Teaming up with Samuel L Jackson’s train driver and a young neighbour, he heads to a supposed safe zone, offing the undead along the way.
Interesting ideas involving the zombies’ hive mind and some shared dreams are raised, then tossed aside, before a maddeningly ambiguous ending.
