The fifth album from Finn Andrews’ combustible outfit is a dark, dangerous and thrilling ride. With sleaze and dread never far from the surface, songs such as Here Come The Dead and House of Spirits hiss and spit with venomous intent. A crack production team gives them the edge, fine-tuning their sense of the macabre into swirling beauties (Iodine & Iron) or diamond cutter glory. Andrews is one of the musicians featured in David Lynch’s reactivated Twin Peaks, and the match of melodic assurance and surreal unease here makes him a perfect choice.
