SOUTHGATE TAKES RASH DECISION

-

MARCUS RASHFORD has been dropped from the full England squad into the Under-21s.

The striker, 18, made two sub appearances at Euro 2016, had been warned by new England boss Sam Allardyce that he needs to be playing regularly for Manchester United to have a chance of selection for the senior squad. Now he will join Gareth Southgate’s kids. Rashford (left) scored on his full debut against Australia in May but is heading to Colchester for a Euro qualifier Norway next month. He was considered for the Toulon Tournament – which England won for the first time in 22 years – but eight goals in 18 games for United propelled him into Roy Hodgson squad.

Everton’s Mason Holgate has also been handed his first call-up, Derby midfielder Will Hughes returns from injury while Arsenal’s Rob Holding and Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek are included.
