LUKAKU’S DELIGHT

HERRERA SAYS JOSE’S £89M MAN IS STARTING TO SHOW HIS WORTH

- BY JOHN CROSS Chief Football Writer

Pogba, United’s world record £89million signing, has taken time to re-adjust to English football but is now showing glimpses of his full potential.

The France midfielder was outstanding in the 2-1 win at Crystal Palace and is also forming a strong understanding with Herrera (right) and Michael Carrick as part of a first-choice midfield trio.

Herrera insists Pogba can show his true worth as the Reds look to climb the table.

The Spaniard said: “He can change a game in one second. He has an unbelievable shot. He can head the ball, he can combine in the box and create something. He is a top player.

“Pogba is Pogba. But it is not only Paul who can change a game. I am so optimistic.

“The manager is so passionate and he thinks the same as us, that we should have had more points.

“In the Premier League you can never know. In Spain I can tell you these are the games you need to win, but in the Premier League you never know. It is the most amazing league in the world.”

Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho has complained his team have not got the results they have deserved, and he’s been frustrated at drawing five of the last seven games.

But Herrera believes the most important thing about United’s victory at Palace was to get all three points when they were not at their best.

Herrera said: “A win is a win and it was even more important when all our rivals won, only Arsenal lost.

“But when you have top players like Paul Pogba, they can win games out of nothing.

“We have Paul, we have Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“They are top players who can change a game even when they are not at their best.

“One of our best times in the match was after they drew level and that showed the spirit of this team.

“Even on a day when we didn’t play our best we created six or seven chances.

“Juan Mata’s disallowed goal was legal and there was a clear penalty that wasn’t given. We were not at our best but we played enough to win.”

Eric Bailly is hoping to be fit for United’s Christmas programme after limping off during Wednesday evening’s victory.

The injury to his left knee is likely to keep him out of tomorrow’s trip to West Brom.

But the Reds are confident that it will not be anywhere near as serious as the twomonth lay-off he needed recently after damaging knee ligaments in his right leg. KEVIN DE BRUYNE had an outstanding debut season with Manchester City.

And he was expected to kick on even further under Pep Guardiola.

But the Belgian star has just two league goals to his name so far this term. However, the cream always rises to the top.

Without suspended Sergio Aguero, De Bruyne will be City’s key man in their clash with Arsenal.

He can inspire them to victory on Sunday and shoot down the Gunners. LIVERPOOL and Everton face off in the season’s first Merseyside derby on Monday.

Goals have not been in short supply for either this season, with the Reds games having seen more than any other side.

Jurgen Klopp’s men attack at pace, but often forget about the defensive side – particularly on the road.

And Everton, after beating Arsenal, will look to get in their faces from the off.

Liverpool’s intention to attack won’t stop - but as they throw bodies forward, space will open up, particularly for Romelu Lukaku.

Get him in your Fantasy iTeam, as he looks well placed to find the net.
