Becks lands on Kirsty’s desert island
DAVID Beckham will be Kirsty Young’s special castaway to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Desert Island Discs.
The football legend’s appearance on January 29 will also feature the sound of the sea during the opening, for the first time since the 1960s.
Becks said: “Music’s been a huge part of my – and my family’s – life and it is a real pleasure to highlight that on such an iconic programme.”
Kirsty, who has hosted the show since 2006, said: “He is a modern man of many parts. He’ll be a fascinating guest.”
In the show, founded by Roy Plomley, castaways pick eight tracks, often telling Kirsty secrets about their lives. Celebrations start on January 28 on Radio 4 Extra.
