MOURINHO: GET REAL IF YOU WANT DE GEA

- DAVID McDONNELL

JOSE MOURINHO is confident Real Madrid will not embark on another “dirty tricks” campaign to sign David De Gea. Madrid president Florentino Perez claimed someone at Old Trafford is “messing around” with De Gea, with Real poised to move again after a £29million switch to the Bernabeu collapsed on transfer deadline day in 2015. The goalkeeper then signed a lucrative new four-year deal with the Reds.

Perez’s latest remarks are seen as the start of a campaign to unsettle De Gea ahead of a potential summer bid to take him back to Spain.

But Mourinho told Perez to speak to him directly if they are serious about trying to land the 26-year-old.

He said: “If, at the end of the fixture back in September that Mourinho hit probably his lowest point as United lost 3-1.

Yet five months on they have reached the EFL Cup final, made a push for the top four, and are still in the Europa League and FA Cup.

Fellaini (above, with Mirror Sport’s John Cross) said: “Yeah, we are on a great run. We haven’t lost for three months in the League.

“When a new manager comes in he has to find his balance and now he has it. We have a lot of confidence and everyone wants to play, so it’s good for the team.

“If you want to win things all the staff have to be together, like a family.

“A club like United has to play in the Champions League so the minimum is top four. At the beginning of the season we wanted to be champions but we lost points by drawing too many games.

“Games like Stoke and Hull and Burnley at home. We should win those but we didn’t. Six points is a lot to drop in the Premier League. We have to win some games now and keep going to the end of the season.” season, I want one of their players or they want one of our players, we will not do it through the press to exchange messages.

“We will be very direct. So they’re one of the clubs I’m not worried about.

“I’ve nothing to say because I’m not going to speak about hypothetical things. The only thing that is real is he’s my player, I’m happy with him, I know he’s happy with me.”
