CATCH ME IF YOU KANE

Spurs hitman Harry is working flat out to add more pace to his impressive armoury .. these are the Prem speed kings to match

HARRY KANE is working to increase his pace as he strives to become the complete striker.

He will line up for Spurs at Anfield this evening bidding to put Liverpool out of the title race and close the gap on leaders Chelsea.

Kane, who last season won the Premier League Golden Boot, has established his credentials as one of the top marksmen in Europe over the past two and a half years.

His 14 league goals so far this campaign put him joint-third, two behind Romelu Lukaku who tops the scoring charts.

And he believes he would be even more of a problem for opposition defenders if he was faster.

“I’ve been working hard on my speed for the last few years,” said Kane.

“I’m not slow but, as a striker, the more speed you have, the better you are. You can run in behind someone, one v one you’re better, so I’m always trying to work on my speed.

“That’s probably the one aspect I’ve worked on the hardest as a player. I want to always improve on everything in my game, but that’s one area I really work on.”

Tottenham’s priority is the Premier League after faltering when well placed last season and finishing third to Leicester.

The north Londoners are also targeting the FA Cup and the Europa League to kickstart what they hope will be a new era of success under Mauricio Pochettino.

“In previous years everyone knew we could win a league or a cup, but no one really expected us to,” said the 23-year-old.

“I think now, if we don’t, it will be a disappointing season. So I think that shows how far we’ve come as a team and as a group. As a club as well.

“Of course we want to win, we want to win every title we can, but yeah, we’re in three competitions, the FA Cup, Europa and the Premier League, and we want to come away with at least one of them.”

After today’s trip to Anfield, Spurs go to Belgium to play Genk in the first leg of a Europa League tie, then travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

With Chelsea nine points ahead of them, Kane believes the Europa League could be Spurs’ best chance of silverware.

“I think we’re one of the best teams in it, it’s a great competition to win,” he told GQ magazine.

“I know people see the Champions League as the big one, but it’s silverware, it’s a trophy.

“And if we get one, I think the others will start coming. I think it will give us that confidence to get more. “You see in other sports when players win that first one, it gives them that confidence to go on and push on and get others.”
