Rejected Romeo bills woman for drinks

A FASHION designer was left stunned when she ditched a bloke after their first date and he asked her to send him money for the drinks he bought.

Lucy Brown, 38, politely texted the hapless romantic to let him know that while she enjoyed herself, there was no spark.

To her amazement, he replied to say he was “a bit devastated” before asking for a “contribution for the drinks I spent on you” and providing her with his bank details.

Lucy said: “I met him on Plenty of Fish and I thought he seemed nice and normal.

“When I got the text, I was crying with laughter. I honestly thought he was joking but then I realised it was serious.” Lucy, who met the bloke at a bar in Clapham, South London, on Saturday, also took his £20 watch home by mistake after swapping it for her hat while larking about. But he said he did not want it back because it would be “too painful” to be reminded of her.

She added: “I’m a bit surprised – how can he be so devastated about just one date?”

She agreed to send him £42.50, half the cost of the night, however, and donated the same amount to a donkey sanctuary.

Lucy said: “I saw a post on Facebook about them and I think they are such a lovely charity. He has since messaged back and he put, ‘I feel like the donkey sanctuary has come out better from this situation’.

“I just texted him back saying, ‘eeyore’.”
