NOONE IS UP FOR LONGER ACT OF WAR

-

CRAIG NOONE has urged Cardiff chiefs to do everything they can to keep manager Neil Warnock at the club next season.

Warnock wants assurances that cash will be available this summer to mount a promotion push.

The Bluebirds were in the relegation zone when he took over in October, but this thrashing of his old club Rotherham steered them 15 points clear of danger.

And Noone hopes owner Vincent Tan will give Warnock the money he needs to achieve a record eighth promotion.

The winger said: “I’d definitely like to see him stay, I think everybody would. The proof is in the pudding with what he does and how effective he is in this league.

“He’s said he wants another promotion so it’s over to Vincent and everyone to back him and see how it goes.

“It’s very tough in this league and he knows how difficult it is. He needs the backing, which, hopefully, he will get to put him in good stead for next season.”

Goals from Kadeem Harris, Junior Hoilett, Noone and a Kenneth Zohore brace gave Cardiff their biggest victory since a 6-0 win over Bristol City in 2010.

The Bluebirds have now won more points, 21, than any other Championship side in 2017.

And Warnock is having a meeting with Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman today to discuss plans for next season.

While the Welsh club are on the up, the rock-bottom Millers look doomed to play League One football next term.

And interim chief Paul Warne said the club have already started preparing for life in the third tier.

He said: “Realistically, when we looked at players in the January transfer window it was with half an eye on League One.”
