FUTURE IS BLUE FOR CLEMENT

-

SWANSEA head coach Paul Clement believes Chelsea can dominate the Premier League for the next four years.

Clement returns to Stamford Bridge today where he won the Double as an assistant coach to Carlo Ancelotti in 2010.

Now a much younger Chelsea side have an eightpoint lead over secondplaced Manchester City and Clement believes they will only get better.

“What I remember about that Double-winning season is how mature and strong the team was,” he said. “We had Cech, Terry, Ballack, Lampard, Essien and Drogba – all strong characters. They were right at their peak at that point.

“This is a younger team, a much younger team than when I was involved. “That’s not good news for a lot of the other clubs because Chelsea have a squad where Gary Cahill is one of the oldest players at 31. “They’ve a lot of players who are around 25, 26, so if they can keep that group together then they could be title contenders for the next three to four years.”

Swansea have won four of their six league games since Clement (above with Manager of the Month award) replaced Bob Bradley at the Liberty Stadium last month.

Defender Federico Fernandez has been influential in the Welsh club’s upturn in form and signed a new three-year deal yesterday.

“The new contract helps me because it shows I have confidence in the club,” he said. “Since the boss came in, we’ve been more organised and his ideas in training are very clear.

“We’re getting better.”
