Mourinho: Leicester should be naming a stadium for Ranieri ...NOT SACKING HIM
JOSE MOURINHO accused Leicester’s players of betraying Claudio Ranieri and getting their former boss the sack.
Mourinho said Foxes stars had only looked out for themselves and let Ranieri down in the wake of last season’s stunning title triumph.
And the Manchester United boss claimed the Leicester board are crazy to ditch their most successful manager and should, instead, rename the King Power Stadium after him.
He said: “I lived a similar experience. I thought last season, when I was sacked (at Chelsea) as a champion, it was a giant negative thing.
“Now I realise it was peanuts compared with what happened to Claudio.” Ranieri will receive
around £3million in compensation. Mourinho (right), who wore the Italian’s initials on his training top in a show of solidarity, said: “Probably the season started with the typical selfishness of others.
“People thinking about new contracts, about leaving, about more money, forgetting who helped them reach a certain level. But there is something nobody can do – delete his history.
“It’s a decision that has everyone united, because it’s something very difficult to accept.
“He’s somebody that probably would deserve the Leicester stadium to be named ‘Claudio Ranieri’, but he’s sacked.”
