HE’S TON OF OUR OWN

Kane breaks through 100-goal mark and Poch says: Harry is becoming a legend

RED-HOT Harry Kane is already becoming a Spurs legend after reaching the 100 club, according to Mauricio Pochettino.

The 23-year-old striker blew Stoke apart with his third hat-trick in nine games to provide the perfect response to his side’s Europa League exit.

With 22 goals now this season, and 86 in total for Tottenham from his 102 goals at club level, Kane has become the first Spurs player since Jimmy Greaves (right) to score 20 times three years in a row.

Pochettino said: “Harry has the profile to be a legend. Maybe he’s starting to be a legend with the goals he’s scoring and the way he behaves.

“He is so professional. He has the perfect profile to be a legend

here. He has his character. I am pleased for him. He deserves it. He is very professional. A top man and I’m happy.

“It’s nothing new for me. I’ve said many times before that, for me, Harry is one of the best strikers in the world.”

Pochettino (above) also saw Kane set up Dele Alli for Tottenham’s fourth, all before half time. It moves the north Londoners above Manchester City into second, 10 points behind runaway leaders Chelsea.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes said: “Harry either takes chances or is involved in their creation.

“He is always involved at the sharp end.

“There’s great movement around him and that causes consternation. He benefits from that. He’s in a good team and he’s a good player and, when it all clicks, they’re very difficult to stop.”

The defeat was the second in six games for the Potters and Hughes believes his players showed their title-challenging hosts too much respect.

He added: “We were never out of the traps. We talked about a bright start but it didn’t materialise.

“We allowed good players time to get shots off. Every one of the goals was poor from our point of view. At times we were a little bit awe-struck maybe.

“We gave them too much respect and were picked off.”
